Packaging lines usually run at high takt, and defects — a missing or wrong label, an incomplete pack, contamination — need to be caught at full process speed, without slowing the line down.

In packaging, decision time directly determines whether inspection can keep up with the line at all. That is why measuring decision time on the target computer is a key qualification step here — the model has to decide faster than the packaging machine's takt.

The most common case in this industry is label and print verification: presence, orientation, and legibility of a batch number or expiry date. A repeatable label pattern makes deviations easier to detect, but glare on film or a glossy laminate needs well-chosen lighting.

Bulk packages are also often checked for completeness (are all items of a set present) and for contamination — foreign objects that may have entered the pack during the packing process.
